The major purchases have been made , for the rod I bought a St.Croix Triumph TRC70MHF from Dean at Everts Resort

Careful, you might find that rod in your hands more than hers. It’s a winner

Mary, do not let Jeff troll with it or let him take it casting for those scaly skis….If you do…don’t say we didn’t warn you!

We’ll be watching for you at Everts once the weather is back into the 70’s.

Is there anyway to “test drive” a shotgun before buying it? I’ve got my eye on a couple different models and would like to get a feel for the recoil dampning before slapping down the cash. Is this even possible these days?

I’ve never heard of it at a store. Only big outdoor shows.

I’m with Zuke, I’ve never heard of a store doing it except during certain special events.

Here in Minnesota we have the Game Fair and there are similar events where the manufacturers will let you test drive shotguns on clays. However, knowing what models will be available such that the exact one you want to test will be there is going to be tricky.

I know Reeds usually has an event every year where you can go out and test shoot guns. I worked for a sporting goods store in Marshall, MN and they also had an event every year where the Beretta and Benelli reps would bring out guns to try. The reps we worked with wanted the customer to get out and shoot the guns first. Dusty Minke (dustyfish, I think is his IDO username) is a rep for Browning and could probably help you out if you are considering a Browning.

Thanks for the information guys. I am personally interested in shooting the new Browning A-5 in 3.5in. My father in-law is also in the market and is much pickier than I am. He is interested in comparing the Bennelli Legend with the Beretta A400 or anything else comparible to the Legend.

I just got to thinking that places allow you to shoot bows, test drive cars, demo ride atvs and snowmobiles, but didn’t know about shooting guns.

A400 is sawheet! But I believe I will be purchasing a browning maxus this year before duck opener.
