I am going to Texas for some hog hunting in a few weeks. I plan on bringing just my bow. What do people normally shoot for broadheads? I use rage 2 blades for deer hunting. I’m a little nervous about using a mechanical broadhead for shooting hogs.

Any other tips I should need???

Yeah, bring a rifle with too. I’ve been down by San Antonio, on a “Ranch” I’m glad I brought my gun with too. Super thick there, a few guys only brought bows and left empty handed.

They never stop for very long. If you get a decent shot, take it. When we did it, I enjoyed it. We saw hogs every day, but just did not get many decent shots, and nothing that would be bow range.

X2 on Prieser. Bring a gun for backup.

I used 100gr Thunderheads. Most of the shots should be under 20 yds if hunting over feeders. Try to find an archery only ranch. We hunted South Hills Ranch a couple times. Archery only. Far as I know, they don’t do hog only hunts anymore. We took 9 hogs the first time I went down. The rancher talked me into getting a rug made out of a blonde colored one I shot. It is pretty cool, but I probably should have my head examined after that move.
