I have a 35-40lb block of frozen venison trimmings inside my chest freezer. How many days should I let that sit in the garage refridgerator if I plan on making jerky and sticks out of it on Saturday?? Is today the answer or can I wait until thur/fri??

Wow. That’s one big brick-o-frozen-meat. That’s one solid block, not individual packages totaling that weight?

My answer would be that you should have taken it out last week if it’s one solid block. A frozen turkey will take 3-5 days to completely thaw in the fridge and that’s less than 20 pounds.

I think what you’re going to have to do is start thawing and then break off the outer thawed portions and remove them so that you expose more of the still frozen meat. Repeat this process daily.

I guess I better get it out tonight then ……..I might be a little heavy on the weight, but it’s a good sized box. Besides, if it’s ready before Sunday, it will still be in the fridge.
