I know the price can vary but trying to plan for the spring. What does bulk lime go for? I wait to wait and see if I will actually need it just trying to prepare.

How bulk is bulk? Half a ton? 1 ton? 5 tons?

Can you handle a true bulk delivery in terms of keeping it dry and the loading and spreading it? You may know this already, but just in case, some forms of lime are not particularly convenient to spread. They are not like fertilizer pellets that will drop easily through a broadcast spreader. So it might not be an easy DIY operation.

For something like lime if you’re really looking at a significant quantity, I’d say contact local elevators and see if you can get a price that includes applying it. It increases your cost, but the hassle factor goes down considerably.

I’m just trying to think out loud and plan for anything I will need in the spring with price being a big factor. I hunt a farm so they have the needed equipment but I won’t be able to test the soil until the spring so I really don’t know what I will need right now.

It’s a good deal that you have the equipment side covered. The Ag Lime that I’ve been seeing lately is a clumpy powder, so the ranchers have been spreading it using a manure spreader. Certainly not something the average guy can just do on his own.
