Kaden is going to have another radiation treatment this afternoon to help relieve his back pain. Thanks for the prayers and thoughts everyone.

Kaden fell asleep quite early last night and slept straight through until about 8am this morning. He did wake up once complaining of back pain. We are SOOOOO ready to get this radiation done to help alleviate his pain! Kaden had a waffle for breakfast and it appeared tht the day had started off pretty good. We have had to give him a bit more morphine this morning because he was having some abdominal pain. That makes us a little nervous…actually alot nervous! But he seems to be doing well now…meds are working! Abdominal pain is what the doctors told us would happen when the liver started malfunctioning. We are hoping and praying that his liver can hold out a while longer!

Dr. Arndt called us this morning to check in with us and let us know that she was thinking of us. She hadn’t seen Kaden’s liver CT yet but she looked at it while we were on the phone. Her reaction said it all. I asked her how much liver tissue he appeared to have and she said that there is mostly tumor in his liver and not much actual liver tissue….sigh. I guess I am still in awe of how the human body can function under such circumstances. Logan and I fear that our time with our little man is shorter than what we thought. But then Kaden perks up, wants some food, and asks to play his DS. That however is followed by sleeping.

We had a visit from Bob Pries a little bit ago. Kaden was talkative when Bob was here and he was recalling his ride in the Byron fire truck with Bob. His brain is still working good, that’s for sure!! Bob works for Gentry Construction and he brought with him gift cards to Subway and McDonalds because he knows how much Kaden loves those two places! Believe it or not, this is the FIRST time we have received McDonalds gift cards!! Ha! Kaden always has been able to get as many cheeseburgers he has wanted in a week but now he can have even more! Thank you Gentry Construction!!! Bob also offered to bring the fire truck to our house this weekend so Kaden could have another ride. Kaden liked that idea. So neighbors, don’t worry if you see a fire truck in front of our house….all is well!

I would also like to thank Sandy and Alexis Aaby for dinner last night! Lasagna and garlic bread. Alexis also decorated while frosted cupcakes with little hamburgers on them…so cute! She knows howmuch Kaden likes cheeseburgers and added that little special touch to the cupcakes…so thoughtful!! But now we are truly saturated with sweets and Christmas cookies! My RCTC colleague and friend, Ruth Siefert, brought by a huge platter of her Christmas cookies last night. She brought us some in the hospital last year and I remembered how wonderful her cookies were so there was no hesitation when she asked if she could drop some by!! Thank you Ruth!! I had to put the platter in the fridge downstairs because otherwise too many of the cookies would have magically disappeared. I never thought I would say this, but the Tjossems do not need anymore cookie, candies, cupcakes, etc! If you’re scheduled to bring a meal next week do not worry about making dessert….we have that MORE than covered! Although Rylee is loving all of the sweets!!

Our photographer, Erin, dropped off one of our prints and the Christmas cards last night as well. I absolutely love the picture that is going to hang in our living room. And the Christmas cards are beautiful! Looks like I’ll have some work to do this weekend.

As of now our weekend is wide open. I hope Kaden is feeling good enough to enjoy it! Radiation is at 4:45 today.
