I didn’t see it last night, but it’s all over Facebook this AM. I am simply dumbfounded how anyone who is obviously very smart to get in that position, can honestly not get it.

Anyone remember how prohibition went. It will be worse if the government thinks they can take our guns.

I didn’t see that segment, but it’s sure all over the media now!

The problem I can see is that there’s an elephant in the room that nobody can talk about: The NFL’s gang-banger/gangster thug culture. Combine that with the rampant ego maniac tendencies that it produces and you have a recipe for disaster.

Drugs, concubines, posses, dog fighting, million dollar strip club tabs, domestic violence, etc, etc, etc, the NFL is now in a situation where they have fostered an out-of-control generation of very rich, very young, very ego-centric players who don’t have the mental maturity and coping skills to handle the situations they find themselves in.

But you can’t talk about any of that because someone will play the race card. So instead, let’s just talk about the guns…

I can’t believe for a second that there wasn’t a bigger picture that Costas would have LIKED to talk about. But he either self-sensored or was stopped from doing so because any critisim of the NFL’s culture cannot be tollerated because someone will imply that it’s driven by racisim.

FG, there was a show on (I think) ESPN that high lighted a number of nfl players that are broke or bankrupt. As you said, they are young and instant millionaires in a moment in the draft. They don’t have the experience or skill sets to manage that kind of money. It opens another can of worms, but kids making that kind of money should be paid in an annuity ballooned over time. Can you imagine getting your first paycheck that is NET $386,000.00 Easier for those of us with more life experiences

I could not agree more! I just don’t understand why issues always have to turn political IMO, it probably has to do with the fact that gun control is the only thing we (society) can control and talk about without getting sued for playing the race card

Opinions are like hind-ends, “Everybody’s got one!”. When will people ever learn that it’s not the gun, that kills/harms people. It’s the person who has control of it and chooses to use it in a negligent/unlawful way that does the killing/harm? Why didn’t they scream for “Knife Control” after Nicole Simpson was slaughtered? Also, it seems to me the Supreme Court made a ruling on the 2nd ammendment that validated it not too long back. I’ll go with the Constitution before I’ll go with some sports reporters opinion!

I’m sick of this B.S. that follows every time there is a high profile shooting. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people. A gun is nothing more then a piece of metal until a PERSON picks it up and fires it. BOB COSTAS KISS MY

I think that would make for a great bumper sticker

Now’s the time to send an email to every company that advertises on NBC and let them know you are boycotting their products until Bob is gone!

I sent a letter to NBC last night. Hopefully today I’ll get time to write the sponsors. If anyone has contact info, please share.

In case you guys were not aware. Costas chose to quote a known racist. This Whitlock character is something else. Search for Jason Whitlock + Jeremy Lin. How do these jackholes still have jobs in the national media?

Kooty, I’m right there with you. NBC corp network and NBC sports. Short and to the point.

    To whom it may concern,
Until corrective measures are taken for the outrageous and inaccurate statements of Bob Costas, my family has chosen to boycott all NBC programming and any products associated with the advertising on NBC. We are encouraging all lawful firearm owners to take similar action, as this has a negative portrait of law abiding citizens that contribute to the United States of America.
In addition to this notice, please be advised that I have begun an email campaign to notify all NBC advertisers of my position.
As a leading and previously respected network, I would hope you know and understand the the actions of Bob Costas, and all of those involved that allowed this to happen, can not go without consequences.
Until a time that these individuals are terminated, I will no longer support NBC in any manner!
    Sincerely,
    Randy Wieland

It’s ironic when a person is killed with a gun these nut cases want to ban all guns, but when a drunk driver kills a family while behind the wheel they don’t cry for a ban on all alcohol and automobiles. I find both cases very close to the same and in many cases carry criminal penalties very close to the same.

“If” a gun would not have been in the picture, this would have been looked at as the domestic issue that it is. It’s a bad, sad and devistating situation. Domestic violence is usually a passionate and brutal display of anger. Most times far more grusome than a gun shot. Like said before, the gun gets the bad rap, not the murderer. God bless the victims in this terrible, terrible crime.

Costa’s just reaffirmed my belief that he is a idiot and would be better suited to soap operas. I turned the TV off when he got done. As I heard said this week, for the whole Ron Goldman & Nicole Brown murders, they would be alive today, if kitchen knives had been illegal… What a fricken narrow minded idiot…
