Great fish Steve! That was fun thanks again.

I’ll remember that fish for a long time.

Steve, thanks again. That was a sweet outing. You absolutely couldn’t have ordered us up any better weather. Hopefully you get a few more outings in before the boat goes to winterland. Now you have to shoot for a 60+ after that behemoth last night.

    Have Tag! Will Travel!
I have only been living in Wisconsin for about 5 years. I would really like to tangle with some sturgeon. Any help and advise would be great. I live in Hudson and have fished the St. Croix a few times.
Would love to go with someone to show me the ropes.

Jet…I’ll bet 25 pennies…if you leave your tag at home, there could be someone on this website willing to take you out for an evening.

I’m not speaking for anyone on this site…but me. Since the MN DNR feels through their tagging studies, there’s less than 4000 sturgeon in the St Croix and a female takes 23+ years to spawn the first time and then only everyother year or three…

I feel the tag is more of a donation to the DNR than to be actually used.

Don’t get me wrong…it’s legal to take a 50+ incher…but I sure try to discourage it whenever I can.
BTW, if you are planning on taking a sturgeon home…this is the year to do it. Next year the season will be 2 weeks shorter and a “legal” sturgeon will have to be 60 inches plus.

Sorry to interupting your thread Steve. Although you guys did have a good night, I haven’t heard of anyone breaking the DeMars and BK record of 31 fish in 2.5 hours yet.

Love the way your holding that young lady!

Ever thought of entering in a contest this weekend perhaps??

Nice fish Steve and you’ve had one heck of a year! My stink must have worn off! Either that or having you 3 fishing superstars in one boat trumped it.

We are looking at buying some Moultrie Game Spy L-50 5.0 Megapixel Digital Game Camera or some Moultrie Game Spy D-55 5.0 Megapixel Digital Game Camera (Five to be exact) for our cabin up north.

My buddy runs the Tasco Game Cameras and they are OK. Pics are decent but the response time must be low since he usually gets a ton of “blank” photos.

I was looking on-line and I didn’t find a ton of info on the cameras I listed above. Obviously cost is a concern but are these lower end cameras even worth the effort?

*Side note. The reason fr buying 5 cameras is I currently have none and have a LOT of area I want to check out. Plus the cabin is about 4 hours away so I am not getting up there every weekend to check spots out. This is however in preparation for the 2013 season. SO I have a lot of time to work with.

I like the Moultrie cameras and think they are a pretty good deal for thier price point. The ones I have are older model i-40’s and the two complaints I do have are not with the pictures.

The first issue I had was that it was a pain in the butt to pull the memory cards as there were two separate covers that needed to be opened, one to get to the card and another to reset the camera. This is a minor issue and I believe the newer cameras are much easier to pull the card.

The second issue was that all on all 5 of the Moultie’s that I have the info strip display went haywire within less than 3 years. The cameras still worked but you couldn’t change the settings or even set the date/time. However, I called Moultrie and they had very good customer service and sent me new info strips free of charge which I was able to install myself and they work great again now.

The other cameras I have are Bushnell Trophy Cams which are a smaller and better quality camera, but they do have quite a bit higher price point. I also have first hand experience using Stealth Cam and would never reccomend them. A few of my good friends who swear by Cuddyback but IMO they are no better than the Moultries but cost more.

Overall I think the Moultries are a great option for the price and I would reccomend them to someone as a good purchase for someone just getting started with trail cams

Thanks Jason. I will have to look closer at that site. After my initial review it appears the only cameras they looked at were $100 or more. That is really more than I am wanting to spend considering I am looking at purchasing 5 units.
