I handled one of these over the weekend (I think the one pictured) and it had an incredible feel to it. It was so light it was like holding a feather and the balance with the reel was perfect. The guides can really take some punishment and pop back into place too. In my boat that would be a great feature. I was afraid to ask the price but I know Dean and my wife had some kind of coded communication going on and the last time that happened I ended up with a couple blue St. Croix rods for Fathers Day. I hope if I am a good boy that Santa will come visit

Best Brand of .380 Caliber to buy?

Looking to buy a .380 caliber handgun . I own a KelTec .380 semi auto. Does any gun company make a revolver in that caliber? Looking for recommendations. Please let me know what you think on .380 semi auto & revolvers. Thanks!
October 15, 2012 at 1:16 pm #124919I’ve got the S&W Bodyguard. I really like the sights on this gun and the fit in my hand for a small semi. The only downside is the trigger pull like most small semi’s. It’s SO long.
Shot one, I’m pretty good. 2-6 are kind of all over the place when practicing rapid fire. Good enough to hit the torso, but not as accurate as I’d like.
My next will likely be a Glock 23 for CC.
October 15, 2012 at 3:29 pm #124943The .380 is a rimless cartridge, so I don’t think you’re going to find a revolver that can shoot it.
October 15, 2012 at 3:42 pm #124944My buddy has one. We shot them side by side a few weeks back in SD. The sights were way to fine for my liking. The trigger pull was slightly better though. The S&W had less “bark” also.
I view this weapon for last resort, close quarter shooting. I’m likely emptying the magazine quickly and looking to move in for hand to hand once this weapon is emptied. So, maybe the sights aren’t as important for this weapon.
October 15, 2012 at 4:09 pm #124948Mine is a S&W Bodyguard. Fine little pocket gun. Once I can locate one of their newer “Shields” in 9mm or 40 cal, I’m gonna get that, and dump the 380. IMHO, 380 is just a bit too small.
October 15, 2012 at 6:27 pm #124961I have for CC a Glock 26 9MM, a Ruger LCR 38 Special and a S&W Governor chambered for 45 Colt and 2 ½ inch 410, all with laser sights. These are my personal protectors! The 380 is designated as “Fishing Tackle” and carried in my boat bag, should I ever be attacked by a pirate!
October 15, 2012 at 8:02 pm #124973I have a Ruger LCP. Easy to carry when concealment is an issue or you just done feel like lugging around more iron.
Also a nice glove box gun.October 16, 2012 at 12:38 pm #124998Thanks for the responses! I have narrowed the choices down to the Ruger LCP or the S&W Body Guard.
October 17, 2012 at 12:05 pm #125101Have not checked that out yet, however, it will be the determining factor!
October 19, 2012 at 1:25 am #125224I bought a TARUS .380 TCP > Not an bank breaker and shoots very clean. I believe this should be considered a ‘tite-quarters’ only defense weapon….but is very easy to carry…

Thanks, will check it out!
October 22, 2012 at 2:30 am #125315Just picked up a Colt .380 Government auto. Was my Dad’s and didn’t know he even had it. He died in 93 and my broinlaw had it. Seems like a sweet little gun.
October 25, 2012 at 4:44 pm #125507Thanks again for all the responses! Ended up buying the S&W Bodyguard with a laser sight which also had the best hand fit.
October 25, 2012 at 4:56 pm #125508Sweet.
You’ve got a decent sized arsenal. Let us know what you think after a few rounds.
October 25, 2012 at 5:54 pm #125511I don’t get the gun until tomorrow as I bought it in MN and live in WI. So it will have to be brought back by my FFL Dude, then the background check will have to be done. So it could be awhile before I actually get to send a few down range. I knew this was the gun, the moment it was nestled in my hand!
October 29, 2012 at 12:58 pm #125662So far I’ve only been plinking with the cheapest junk Cabelas had. I need to get a magazine of “stoppers” for when I carry.

Herter’s? The stuff is cheap, but I have had good experiences with it in my .357–of course, revolvers are not ammo picky, so it may not run through a semi-auto as well.October 29, 2012 at 1:21 pm #125668Yes, I believe it is Herters. Yellowish/orangish box. I need to pick up another couple boxes before next week.
October 29, 2012 at 1:28 pm #125670Ran a couple boxes of Winchester thru the new toy for me. Darn accurate little thing with my big paws. Need to find a holster.
