    Nice fish!
Seems like they will be putting on the feed bags for a little while here yet. In the last week I’ve heard of a few nice flats coming from the ‘Sippi and the Minnesota. I’ll be out on the river tuesday and hopefully get into a good one or two. …I need a break from this lake fishing I’ve been doing lately.

We have been using smaller shad from 4 to 6 inches. The “fresher” the better.

We’ve been doing okay but not spectacular this September – the water is still plenty warm. We tend to get about 3-4 cats each trip. My son got his season’s best last trip, a 21 pounder. He’s still pretty small to handle the big rods, but he did okay. I’ll put some pics up when I get them.

Edit – went back and saw that the 50 pounder came in September, so strike that “not spectacular” above! No nights like I had a few years ago yet though – 10 cat nights. Kinda hoping it’ll turn on to that degree when the water temp starts dropping.

The water temp Wednesday night was 63 on Pool 2. Fished from 8pm to about 12 am. Only got a nice channel and 5lb sheepie.I hope to get out this weekend and chase some flats again…might be the last weekend of the year to do it,considering how fast the water temp is dropping.

I had 64.5 on P4 on Tuesday. Not a cat to be found, though

We bumped into two flats under 10 pounds on P4 the same night you were out Ralf.

Now tonight temps at 63 and our bite STOPPED abruptly at sunset. It was amazing! I don’t recall a time when the bite became worst when it got dark.

Just learned of this accident that happened just south of here a few days ago. A 63 yr old father accidental shot his 36 yr old son and the son later died from the wounds. Just a reminder out there to take care and be safe.

Very tragic. Any accident is bad enough, but 2 family members involved…..prayers for the family at this time.
