What is your #1 dream hunt?

If Ed McMahon walked up to your front door and said you are the “Winner of your dream hunt!” What is the one hunt you dream of year in and year out?

For me personally, I’d make it something I’ll likely never be able to afford to do on my own. I think it would be an archery hunt for giant coastal brown bears in Alaska. A blonde specimen would be my target. Anything over 8.5′ would be my goal.

I’m scared to death of heights, so sheep and goat hunting are probably out for me. I should be able to swing a few elk hunts in my day yet. I also believe an archery moose hunt is in the cards someday.

Horsepack camp in the mountains for elk!

And I’m with Kooty, I’d take a blonde with me of at least an 8.5 on the 10 point scale!!

Not that it matters but my brother is having his dream fall this year. 2 weeks ago he got his first bull elk with bow and he’s bow hunting moose in Ontario as I type this msg.

Yukon Moose & Africa. My brother just got back from Africa a week ago and told me we are going in 4 years. We’ll see if I can save enough for that.

I would book an archery moose hunt in the Yukon faster than Kooty could turn down the chance to bungee jump

I would have to go with a week long trip down to Southern Iowa to bow hunt during the rut, preferably on the land that some of the Whitetail Properties guys hunt on haha, there are giants everywhere down there. Another hunt that would be up there would be an archery hunt for some 400 class bull elk.

That is a tough one as I’ve been lucky enough to go on a couple “once in a life hunts”.

At this point I would have to say a couple thoughts:

    1. Trophy Marco Polo hunt in Tajikistan

    2. perhaps a moose hunt in Alaska holding out for a true monster (75″ or better).

    3. B.C. Horseback hunt for Mountain Goat.

    #1 Archery Alaska Brown Bear
    #2 Archery Yukon Moose
#3 Archery New Mexico Elk over 400inches
Lots in common around here it looks like for dream hunts…maybe everyone could pool their money together and all go at once haha. Problem would be who gets to shoot

Hands down it would be a sheep hunt, either a stone or a dall. There is just something about the vast beauty of the land that they inhabit and every look you get in every direction is postcard material.

I’m thinking this would be a Hunt/fish combo for me. Either Siberia or Alaska, Fly-fishing for big rainbow trout and taking to the bush for Bull Moose.

Two that I’ld love to do. The northern range of Russia really intrigues me. But most of all,I want to do a year in the Yukon trapping. The only animal I want a mount of is an Artic fox. I’ve had guys want to trade pelts, but if I tan a Artic, it will be one that I have taken myself.

I always thought it would be Africa, but the snakes might keep me away. With that being said, I’d love to have 6 – 8 tags in my pocket up in Alaska/Yukon. Sheep(Stone & Dall), Mountain Goat, Black Bear, Grizzly, Brown Bear, Caribou, Moose. Spend about 2 months and just take it all in (and home) If I could have the wife and kid in tow, that would just make it all the better.

In all reality….. I would take just one more day deer hunting here with my late uncle. We had some great times and even occasionally got a deer. Boy do I miss those hunts. He was my best friend.

Barring that, it would be a friend or two and I on some high quality pheasant land in SoDak with my own dog.

I am way easier to please I would be happy with a few days in a tree in iowa with Tiffany Lakosky I wouldn’t even care if I saw a deer.

Honestly a whitetail bow hunt in iowa or ill would be just fine with me as long as my 2 boys could come along.
