Gov. Mark Dayton has ordered flags lowered to half-staff Tuesday to honor a southeastern Minnesota soldier killed in Afghanistan.
The funeral for 23-year-old Army Sgt. Nicholas Dickhut will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rochester. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
The U.S. Department of Defense says Dickhut died April 30 from wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire.
Dickhut was a Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldier. He was a member of the 3rd Stryker Brigade that deployed in December and was attached to the 82nd Airborne Division as a forward observer.
