I have a shotgun that was my great-grandfather’s (a 16 gauge Marlin pump from the 1910’s) as well as an oldie rod/reel combo that I found in my mother-in-law’s basement. For a while, I have been toying around with using them in a display.

Last night while laying in bed, I began to conceive of a display rack for them. Thinking of having them cross diagonally with a shelf above. Then, I could add framed photos, shotgun shell, old lures to the display to dress it up.

I plan on building it. Anyone done/seen something similar? Just looking for more ideas to throw in

What a coincidence. I’m building a display case for a guy in lower level right now for a similar display. Furred the wall out 8″ to build a few niches into it. One will be his TV on a wall mount swivel rack. Smaller one @ 5-1/2″ deep for old reels,,,, and a larger one for a couple antique shotguns and a couple bamboo rods. When its done, it will have a oak plywood back and cased out. Small pegs for placing the shotguns on, and custom adjustable shlves for old lures and other antique hunting/fishing stuff. The pic is of coarse of the rough and not done. But I’ll have a bookshelf on hinges to swing away from the water meter to give un-restricted access. The display case will have slide-by tempered glass with a display lock.

    Wow! Mine’s more of a hang-on-the-wall shelf

That’ll be cool, though. Please post a pic when it’s done.

Do you have/need a bar where you are putting this display? You could put that on the front.
I have a .410 from my grandpa that I want on display.
I have been toying with the idea of building a bar with either a glass top and putting the gun under it or a display front like you are doing.
Just a thought to maybe make it a multipurpose use for ya.

No, not now. Someday, I would like that, but we’re in our first home right now, and while it is nice enough, we don’t plan on staying long enough to justify doing anything too drastic to the house.

Ralph’ We are re-doing the basement, so I have a set of custom made wood shelves to sell. There are 4 shelves total but you could buy any or all of them. I also have some old reels and a bunch of duck calls you could add to your display.
P.M. me if interested and I’ll get you some measurements and pics.
