Here is my dilemma. I’ve got about $450.00 worth of gift cards just burning a hole in my pocket. I’ve got several items on my list, but the one at the top is a muzzleloader.

Ok, so my real dilemma. I tend to buy “nice/good” stuff. I like the “Ford/Chevy” of most products when I’m buying. I don’t need the “Caddy” nor am I interested in “Saturn”.

I’ve never owned a muzzleloader. However, I now have an opportunity to actually use one. Do I get a “nice” one and blow all my money or do I get a “Saturn” and use the left over to get a few other things. I’ll only use the gun once a year and possibly a rare western hunt outside of Mn.

Here are my choices in order:

    TC Triumph Cabelas Special

    TC Triumph Black

If I were to go cheaper, what would you suggest?

I bought a TC Omega muzzle loader years ago and love it.
It’s a tack driver and have never had a problem with it, I know some buddy’s who have had CVA muzzle loaders and had alot of problems with them shooting accurately. I dont think you can go wrong with any of the TC.

You definitely get what you pay for. I thought I’d buy a cheapy just in case I decided to get into it and bought a CVA wolf. Pile of garbage.

Kooty, I (Santa) bought my son a CVA Optima Compact (.45 cal) last year for X-mas and it is a great shooting little gun. Four of the guys I hunt with also shoot the Optima’s with no problems at all.

TC all the way. I have shoot a lot of different brands and the TC’s are by far the best for the $. I personally like the Omega’s best – They just come up best for me.

TC Triumph black will do everything you possibly need….anything after that is all looks/pride.

Just buy at T/C and sleep well knowing that you made a great decison!

Sounds to me like you already made your mind up and may be trying to talk yourself out of the one you want. Go with the more expensive one. Knowing you will only use it a handful of times, you still need to be happy with your purchase and don’t want a case of the “what ifs”?

I joined the muzzle loading world within the last two years, and after much research and questioning how much I wanted to spend, I bought a TC Impact. I think I paid about $230-$240 for it, open sights. I’ve shot cheaper, and more expensive muzzleloaders than the one I own, and it is much better than most as far as accuracy goes. It is just like anything else, find the right ammo and you are in business. You could even scope it nicely, and still be somewhere around $500. Just a thought..

My son and myself both have a CVA Wolf and my son can shoot groups the size of a 50 cent piece at 50 Yds. with open sights so for a cheaper starter muzzleloader I think its great.
