Gunsmith needed – new stock fitting???

I have an old handed down side-by-side 16 gauge with sentimental value. The stock and forearm are in horible condition (and are plastic). I’d like to get a new wood stock put on to make the gun useable. If possible, I would like it fitted to me or my father’s shooting form.

Anyone know of any good gun smiths in the area who can do this? Preferably in the EC area, but would travel around/south of the cities if necessary.

Will the gunsmith at Gander MT be able to do something like this, or should I look elsewhere?

    Thanks!

The only suggestion I have is the gunsmith at Joe’s Sporting Goods. He has been around and is very experienced. You could call and ask him about this project. He would either want to do it or certainly be able to recommend someone.

I realize its a haul for you, but I have two really good (and reasonably cost) gunsmiths over here by me. Shooter Supply in Lamira is where I have gone most often.

Before you jump into anything. There are some really good stock manufactures on the market now. Very easy to order online a desirable stock, and have it fitted specifically to the action and your arm length.

Check with the Gun Exchange in Elk Mound. I had him do some work on a carbine for me and was well satisfied.

Thanks for the responses… I took a look at the gun, its a Shapleigh King Nitro, 16 gauge side-by-side with Tenite (old style plastic) stock.

My father bought it for 10 bucks from a buddy of his probably around the time he was in college.

Probably not worth much other than sentimental value, and probably can’t fire anything but lead through it, but it will be nice to have a new stock and possibly re-blue it (if I get ambitious) to get it back into serviceable condition.

If anyone has any more info on Shapleigh side-by-sides, I’d be interested simply out of curiosity.

    Thanks,
