Hi everyone. First post on this forum, but I’ve been reading it for a while now.

Question for the bird hunters out there. I’m trying to set up a day at a hunt club / shooting preserve for December and the key is I want to hunt Chuckars.

    Here’s my wish list:

    – Again, I want Chuckars. I like them better than Pheasants, which I get to hunt quite a bit.
    – Has to allow non-members.
    – Within an hour or so of the St. Paul side of the Twin Cities.

Anyone have any ideas for me? I’ve called a few places, but they’re either strictly members-only or they want an hefty non-member fee. In addition, not everyone offers chuckars.

    Any ideas for me?

    Thanks for the help.

Orlando is the first one I thought of. South of Hastings.

Appreciate the replies everyone and thanks for the info. I’ll call Orlando and Traxler’s today and see what they can do.

It sounds like birds are in short supply in general.

I went to Whispering Emerald Ridge in Menomonie, WI. They have different types of birds and the cover is great. He put out birds for me in one field, but also said I could hunt scratch birds in an adjacent field. When I finished up one bird short of the birds I put out, he offered to let me hunt any of the other open fields. I have never had a game farm do that for me.

This may be too far for you but the only place I will ever go is called Forrest Ridge by Glennwood City, Wi. Lots of natural cover and the owners are super nice. I just called to confirm and they do indeed have chukars right now. $14 for non members. 6 bird mininum and they will mix with pheasants if you like. 715-265-7188

Another vote for Traxlers! I’ve hunted there many times and they run a very good game farm operation!
