I’ll be anxious to hear some reports from you guys who purchase these long rods. I built a 16 footer from St Croix blanks a couple years ago and find it to be awesome for trolling but a bit tricky while learning to land a fish alone…especially if it’s a good one. Gotta keep lots of line out and get the rod straight into the air..two people in the boat makes it a whole lot easier.

Dean, are these 14 footers St Croix?

In true Kooty fashion, I’ve procrastinated on something I probably should have put more time into. Hey, it’s hunting season and work has been “trying” lately. I know, poor excuses.

So, I need to get my wife something for surviving 10 years with me. I’ve no doubt tested her on quite a few occasions, to be honest, how she has put up with me this long is amazing. Well, now that we have 3 young kids, she is stuck!

Looking for ideas. Jewelry was the first thing that came to mind, but I’m terrible about picking the right stuff. I want her to wear it unlike the pearls I got her for Xmas a few years ago….

    Suggestions?

Wish you werent so far away. I have a jewelry wholesale connection in Oakdale I have had for years. He will make anything. for our 10th I got my wife a gold ring with diamonds in it on the top. I know there is a name for it but cant think of it. Didnt actually break the bank but wasnt cheap. To this day one of her favorites. Mine too.

Over the years I have gotten my wife some nice jewelry for occasions and Christmas. I have gotten most of the major stones and I can say with authority she loves getting nice jewelry. Never gets sick of it. Always loves it. I think most woman/wives feel that way. Its an obvious choice for good reason.

We didn’t honeymoon, we bought a house, so I’m leaning towards a warm sunny vacation and lots of umbrella drinks in February right now. However, I’m told adding a diamond to her wedding set is traditional.

BTW, already did date night for the year, last Saturday. Don’t ask me how the new Twighlight movie is….

I’ve found out that the meaningful gifts are more treasured than the expensive ones. The more thought and time you invest in the gift will always outweigh the dollars behind it. Be creative, have something custom made that only you two know the meaning of. The more thought behind it, the better. The price really doesn’t matter as long as the care, meaning and creativeness are behind it.

    Brad makes a great point.

We had our 10 year in September. We ended up spending a nice weekend at our place in Lake City away from the kids and actually talked for a while. A nice night in the boat on Pepin, a couple of drinks, and we even caught some fish.

In my mind, it is not what you spend, but who you spend it with

Somewhere warm and kid-free would be my vote. My wife would take that option (and probably leave me at home too!)

It is what she was doing while I was casting to wing dams.

A happy wife is a happy life. I could not do all the stuff I do if it was not for her, and I think most of us are in the same boat.

I have no problems doing something for her once in awhile. There are many things you could do that aren’t expensive, but will mean a lot to her. Think of things you did when dating and did not have 2 nickles to rub together. This stuff means more to most women than all the diamonds in the world.

I know I could never live with me. She has got to be a saint

Last year some friends went to the Dominican Republic They really enjoyed their time there. prices sounded resonable and there were lots of things to do besides sit on the beach Just another option

Knowing you and knowing your wife I would think time together any way w/o the kiddos would be about perfect. I remember a story you told about when she recieved the moose license, what she made you do that night. I think that is your style, I don’t know if that happens every Friday or Saturday night now but I know its the Kooty style. Not refering to anything NSFW here but I think you might get the idea. Add a little something special of a gift more than an expensive gift, will go further.

Well, Kooty, from a woman’s point of view, I personally would enjoy the warm vacation. But I think that an anniversary band or something added to her wedding band is a good idea. They are also right, it is not about the amount spent but about the quality of the time spent with each other! Happy anniversary and good luck!

I figured a slap on the butt and a high 5 was good enough…

I gave my wife the option for a warm sunny vacation in February or we could go pick out an anniversary band for her ring. She chose the diamond/s. Girls and their jewelry.

Diamonds???? wrong kind of glass buddy. I offered the best glass available to my wife, and gave her a Burris catalog to pick out a scope. Though I have noticed its been a lot colder sitting by myself in a treestand
