I’m headed west on Friday for 9 days. We have a wedding and I have to work a couple of those days, but the rest will be spent hunting. Last night as I was telling my girls about it, they asked if I would take them hunting. I said “Sure, but you have to be very quiet.”

The weather will dictate which stand we hunt, but I absolutely can’t wait to see there eyes when that first deer or pheasant walks by. I don’t care if they spook them or not, it should be a great time.

No, just the two older ones. I can back hand them if they aren’t quiet. The little one makes me feel bad when I do that. We will either be in a ground blind or the tower stand that is 6×8. Plenty of room for snacks and stretching the legs. I’m thinking I need to teach them how to run the range finder and the video camera.

Good luck back there. Let me know how it goes as I’ll be hunting in the same neck of the woods in a couple weeks. I filled my Montana tag yesterday so I already have my mind on those South Dakota bucks!

The girls are super pumped. We have been talking about how important it is to sit quietly so we can see a deer. I don’t know if I’m more excited about this or the fact Dad is seeing our good bucks on camera during the daylight….

Well, today is the day! I’ve been sicker than heck since I got here, but I wouldn’t miss this chance for anything. The girls had a blast at the wedding dance last night dancing with me, I hope I’m better at hunting than dancing.

Should be a great day. We had a little shower about an hour ago. Wind hasn’t kicked up yet. Pics later!

A quick recap. The girls got to see 2 deer about a half mile away and they also got to see a small buck(I passed on the day before) and a good 4 point I would have shot, had they come closer than 125 yards. We only got to hunt a little over an hour.

I think my oldest will be tough to win over. She didn’t care for the dark and noises a box blind makes in 20mph winds. The middle one, she was in heaven. She parked in the corner and filled her tummy full of venison jerky for breakfast.

I really wished they could have been with me last night when I had 20+ deer circling me and the bucks chasing the does etc… It was a night I won’t soon forget. Next time, we’ll have a propane heater for the girls to stay warmer. I can’t wait to get them in the field with me again.
