Lon Feia of North Hudson shot this 648 pound bear just outside the city limits of North Hudson. Quite impressive for Western Wisconsin.

WOW!!!! That is a slob! Kinda makes me second guess what could be roaming around when I’m on my way to the tree at 5:00am! \
    Congrats to the hunter!

I thought I remember them saying on the news it was 648lbs with it’s paws still hitting the ground (as in they couldn’t hoist it high enough to get a real weight).

Ralph, you are correct. I added a photo showing the bear being weighed.

No Kidding That was shot 1 mile from my house. I usually get 1-2 pics of stray bears every year but never anything like that!!

The Wisconsin record for a black bear is 727 pounds. Feia said his bear actually weighed more than 648 pounds, because its feet were still on the floor when they put him on the hoist scale. They couldn’t raise him any higher.

It would be interesting to know how much it actually weighed! Regardless, that thing is HUGE!
