beautiful kings you have there. are those flashers made by opti tackle? sounds like it was your hotbait. how do you run them normally? i tried the last couple of years with no luck. my brother was out with the opti tackle charter last year on michigan and they absolutely pounder them on flashers/fly. I have run them on dipsy/downriggers with the same result, nadda. anyways i will be making the voyage there in about three weeks so any pointers would be great. thanks

Yes, they are the Opti-Inticer flashers. Each person has there own tricks. Some run them high, some low. Some inside, some outside. You can run to many of them, and sometimes not enough. If fishing solo, I run at least one. If 2 people at least two. If 3 or more, I may or may not add more, depends on what the fish react to. They can be run on riggers, dipsys, flats, pumps, boards, just about anything you want to do. The only thing that is almost 100%, is running it on my shallowest rigger. Sorry I can’t be more specific, but it really depends on the fish. Holler if you have any specifics that I could help with. WTA

Thanks for the report, I am dying to get over there been a tough year with graduation stuff for my son and then work. Looks like Aug 1-5 and again a week after that (hope the cold water hangs around for awhile) Look forward to hearing more from you all. We have a added a couple of more 10oz ball rigs and wire lines to our arsenal this year after some good luck with ones we tried last year.

The smaller ones were around 4″ and the larger around 5″. They reminded me of the 3 oz silver, crippled herring jigging spoon. Every one I seen was extremely fresh, with very little, if any digestion, started yet.

I found these tracks in a remote area in Aitkin County mn.
The pics are poor at best. They are between 6-7″ long they don’t splay out at the front of the hoof they are at least 50% deeper in the soil than all the deer tracks around them, the distance between the walking tracks is 36″ and there are no dew claws If I was out west I would say they are elk tracks.

Young moose? I suppose you could also have an elk there.

Heading up for opener this year we saw 2 moose together south side of Hwy 2 east of Grand Rapids heading SE so I would guess there could be a moose around there.

I’d still say Elk…… A budy of mine as two trail cam pics of a big bull Elk here in SE MN. This pics were taken about a month apart. No one has seen this Elk and no one is missing an Elk and it has no ear tag. If it was not for the trail cams there would be no proof of him. ????????????
