Alright Dean! I’m going to have to come down and give these a whirl.

Do these darn things serve any purpose other than biting members of my family…??
My wife is just wrapping up a battle with Lymes, and now this morning my daughter came down stairs and said something on her back hurt. Sure enough, she had what looked like a Deer tick on her lower back. It was a very small tick surrounded by an area of red and inflamed skin. there was no ring, but it didn’t look like the tick had been there that long.
So now the waiting game begins to see if a ring develops. I hope it doesn’t….but even that doesn’t mean much.
Good luck Tom… I sure hope it’s just a false alarm.
please Keep us posted.

X2 I honestly wish them, and misquotes would fall off the face of the earth.
I got some new clothing from GameHide called ElimiTick? All I can say is a hunted for 3 days this weekend laying/sitting on the ground all day long and never had a tick when I showered each night. Check it out, works. Something they inject into the fabric.
A bit of unsolicited advice…I wouldn’t “wait to see if a ring appears”. My doctor’s direction has always been to start a course (short but intense) of anti-biotics right away. Earlier treatment=better results.
Best case scenario, you (or your child) never encounter any symptoms.
Another option to the Elimitic clothing is an $8.00 9 oz spray bottle of Sawyer Insect repellent. Read directions carefully but I’ve used it on several turkey hunts this fall and have not found a tick on me. Prior to using it I found two embed on me from my first turkey hunt. This product lasts through 6 washes and repels ticks, chiggers and mosquitoes.
I’ll take a look at that product. Thanks for the tip!! It just drives me nuts to think I have to hose down my kids with insect repellent just so they can go outside and play.
I can spend days outside and never find one on me. I must stink….
Look into the chemical permethrin, if your kids have a jacket or long sleeve t shirt that they wear outside most of the time, you spray it on the clothes let it dry and the ticks will just fall off the peice of clothing. You cant spray it right on the skin but it will last for about a month on clothes.
I had a deer tick get me last year. Way more painful than a wood tick. Really suprising. I did not get Lymes but I was sure on edge for a few days watching the wound.
I have had occasional flare ups on years old wood tick wounds. No doubt about it those things are pure evil.

Thanks for the tip man…..I’ll be looking into that stuff for sure!

Great chemical. I started using it a few years ago and have not had hardly a tick on me. I use to go out morel picking and come home with themk all over me until I started to use the chemical mentioned above.
Best of luck to your wife with the Lyme’s and hopefully your daughter is not infected with this.
