I went for a walk yesterday afternoon to see if there was any popping up. I was able to pick a handful or so to fry up with a venison steak! I can’t wait till they really take off.

A nice humid warm day, today. That should kick them into overdrive.

I found my first ones yesterday. More than enough for a meal. I was in charge of grilling steak so I handed my wife some breading to lightly coat the shrooms she was cooking. I accidentally gave her cajun flavor! She came to me with a horrified look after tasting one thinking she ruined the whole batch. Tell you what, they were freakin awsome!! I wouldn’tdo it that way everytime but it didnt kill the flavor and was really fun to eat. Andes Cajun fish breading. Their regular is good for everything.

Been finding them Tom? I’m having a pretty good year, but no “mother-trees” where they’re stacked up. A few here, a few there, but it’s adding up.

Been somewhat of a different year for me Joel.

The times I have been out I have done fairly well but I did alot of extra looking.

Not once this season did I find the mother load by a tree or two. Largest group maybe 10-12.

But they are worth the extra time as they are soooo good.

Getting tougher every year to walk the hills.

this may be a dumb question but where do you find them? i know around trees, but do they favor a certain type of tree? my woods is mostly hard woods and i can honestly say i dont think ive ever found a morel, not that ive really been looking. but i love mushrooms and from what everyone says these are awesome.

Some other guys will weigh in for sure. But I think old elm trees with some sandy soil is a huge key.
