We went out looking and found four trees with very small morels. I was very suprised how dry the hills were. My buddy found 15 3 inch morels in his back yard.

You forgot to mention the bonus matched set of horns you found too but the damn tree rats chewed the one and tried to pull it up in the tree

mushrooms don’t “grow” they “pop”. You should have picked them. They won’t get bigger, they will just dry out. Subsequent fruitings will be bigger due to better growing conditions.

Thats right Fred, I have heard that it only “grows” for 2-3 hours before it is done. They will live for a couple days but begin drying right after they pop depending on weather.

I believe this would be right most years.. but I do believe after a mushroom “pops”… it’s job then is to gather as much moisture from the air and rain, to “grow” and swell…. with the wet spring we are having, my money say’s they will “swell” some before they begin to dry out I’d check them the next couple days
