I have been using Google Earth for a while now I was just wondering how many other use it as well. For those that don’t is there something else that you are using.

Forgot to add, that depending on the area you are looking at, you can almost drill down to tree top level using Bing. Otherwise it’s pretty much like google maps.

I use BING. Great stuff. But where birds eye isn’t available it’s no good. Does anyone know how this whole birdseye mapping thing works? Like there is a cutoff right down the middle here in central MN

I just got done checking out some Bing maps I think it looks great! I was going to try to save the map to look at them side by side with Google earth maps. But I can’t figure out how to save the maps from Bing is there a trick?

really they are both going to be about the same. They all use maps provided by the USGS. The detail, zoom level, and age of the picture is all dependent on the last time the USGS took the photo. Here at my house it has been close to 10yrs since the last pic of the area. Got a little subdivison behind me that only shows 1 house when there is 5 now.

I use GE all the time. I upload the tracks from my dogs GPS collars. To analyze the hunts. Will also use it to get an idea of where an old logging road goes. In order to get a better idea of where I may come out. Have also used it in the past when fishing a river for the first time. Can see sandbars and other structure to key on.

I found the same in my area too. Google earth is good, Bing far better but only in certain areas.

Beside using Google, we use the satellite views from the DU webpage and mapquest… Picture quality seems to be a function of the last photos taken from up above…
