Aside from the cwd stuff if you could change one thing about the hunting regs in your area what would it be? I would kind of like to see the earn a buck program thrown into the mix around here.

In Wisconsin I would like to see them get rid of the anterless hunts in October. Either move it out to the end of December if they want to have it or have it right after the 9 day gun season. And maybe move the youth hunt to late September. Leave October and November (until gun season) for archery only! But hey, that’s just me.

I would ban feeding within city limits where they do deer removal hunts… It doesnt make sense to allow feeding then call the deer a problem so you can create special hunts to remove them. I live just outside Hudson and North Hudson…incase you were wondering

In WI They allow us to shoot a buck with the bow and a buck with the gun. I would vote for 2 bucks tags any weapon hunters choice.

And do away with the Oct antler-less hunt

If that passed I wouldn’t even bother buying a gun license!

South Central/Western MN: I would move the gun season off of the rut so that at least some age structure could establish in the area bucks. One of the area DNR guys was quoted this fall in a paper stating somthing like >90% of bucks in the area dont make it past 2 1/2

I also wouldn’t mind seeing awarded doe tags be manditory doe tags. Meaning if you apply and get a doe tag you have to shoot a doe.

Well I could write a whole book on what I would like the WIDNR to change, but here are a few things that I would really like to see changed:

1.) Allow the archery season to continue during the rifle season. I love the tradition of the 9 day rifle season, and spending time with my family & friends, but hate the fact that I can’t bowhunt during it.

2.) Elimination of the early antlerless season. Never makes much sense to me why they would want to carry this out early anyways, as it educates the deer, and makes the rifle season less effective in my opinion. If they want to have an antlerless only season, make it in December, when there deer are easier to pattern, and forced to hit food sources during daytime.

3.) Establish an antler point system to grow more mature bucks. This would also encourage the shooting of anterless deer if they are so concerned that they have and overabundance of them, and the need for 2 additional antlerless seasons.

4.)Eliminate deer drives on public land during the rifle season. 10-20 person deer drives on a public piece of property where no one is sure of what lies ahead of them is downright dangerous. How many people need to get shot before this gets changed?

Sorry for the vent, I guess i’m a man of many opinions.

I would like to never hear about EAB again. Get rid of the early Zone T. I would like to see the muzzle loader season before the 9 day gun season.

Absolutely! It is hard however to practice a true QDM buck to doe ratio with current Minn deer harvest regulations. I just flat out run out of bow hunting friends to help take does. I know the DNR guys are very educated, just wish there was some better moral and regulations in my area to build an age class structure for bucks.

I don’t need two bucks a year, just one true mature buck every few years. Its very hard to hunt them when there’s only one in the area every year.

I really wish #1 would happen. I really dont understand why they won’t let you use archery equipment during the firearms season. Heck I would even buy a firearms tag to be able to hunt with archery equipment during the 9 day firearm season!!!

I would like to see MN bring back the All Season License, one license to hunt bow, shot gun, & muzzleloader season. You got three tags one buck tag and two antlerless tags. This license made it much more simple for the guy that hunted all three seasons, you only had to buy one license instead of three and you did not have to worry about having the right license on you for whatever season you were hunting.

It just bugs me when i pass a 115in deer in the first part on Nov, and then opening day of gun season the neighbor has it hanging in his tree. I know by me passing i gave it a chance but sucks having to start over each year wondering if i pass another one with that one make it.

In my own little dream world I’d like Wisconsin to go to a 1 buck a year state. Move the gun season out of November into early December.
