Stolen Tomato Leads to Arrests in DNR ‘Wall of Shame’ Thefts
Three men were charged Thursday with felony crimes in the connection with the theft of $40,000 of property stolen from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
According to authorities, Shane Rylander, 29, Terry Cotton, 27, and Timothy Heidenreich 39, have been charged with felonies for their role in the DNR theft.
About two weeks ago 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS reported the theft of outboard motors, power tools, computers, and 20 animal mounts from a DNR building in St. Paul.
The same day, Heidenreich was arrested for stealing a tomato, and giving a false name to police. Police say while in jail, he called Cotton on a monitored phone and told him to start selling the stolen goods.
Police went to Cotton’s house and recovered many of the stolen items.
Rylander and Cotton are scheduled to appear in court on March 7 in Ramsey County.
