Well my season is officially over for deer hunting…lets hear some stories from the season that were good, bad, ugly…etc. I know some people on the site harvested some great deer, ducks, upland, etc.
    1. I would say it was a great opening weekend of bowhunting for me in that the weather was perfect and I saw over 40 deer while sitting on stand.
    2. Disappointment in that i missed the only shooter deer i saw this season, four days into it. It wasnt a huge deer by any means but it was a 3.5 year old 125ish 8 pointer.
    3. Had a couple neat duck shoots where limits were not filled but the sheer number of birds were outrageous. Having 150 birds land just beyond the dekes…priceless
    4. Getting a badger with my bow in Missouri was great..still debating if i should mount it or just get the hide tanned.
    5. Seeing some good friends shoot some monster bucks both in and out of state. Congrats Ricco, Mark and Dan…you guys all put time in but still have that horseshoe stuck somewhere…
    6. Doing my first ever Ripley hunt…an experience to say the least…probably will have to be back
    7. Putting my dog down in October….tough decision but i went through the fall without shooting a single rooster or grouse…first time in 8 years that it has happend
    8. Seeing 9 turkeys come past the stand in Morrison County…I hope the population keeps growing.
9.The cat and mouse game i played with a red fox in October while sitting in the stand…I would get him close but brush or a tree limb prevented me from a shot three different times.
    10. All the memories and pictures from the field this past season. I am fortunate to have some good friends and family that share the same passions that i do and it makes it all that much more fun.
10.5 Having my Dad and Grandma put a couple great buck on the ground…I am proud…..

I deer hunted 4 days all year and pheasant hunted 1! No rounds were fired by me. The upside was my 11 year old shot his second doe.

A off season for me. The rifle season was one of the worst ever for me. Not sure why. I’m hoping to do a few things to change that for next season. Turkey season was a big success even though I did not shoot one. I found a new area to hunt and saw a ton of birds and learned a few hard but good lessons. Never got out bird hunting this season. I hope to get back up to North Dakota again next season to do some duck and geese hunting again after a few years off. I did manage to put some meat in the freezer with the smokepole so that kind of saved the season a little.
