I’m looking to update the card in my LCX16CI unit. Which is the better map card, the Navionics or the Lake Master? I would like the Pro’s and Con’s of each. On a side note, I can not keep the graph part of this unit working past about 5 MPH. Does anyone know or have idea’s to correct this problem, or is that a normal situation. thanks in advance for your response

On the map, you’ll want to go with the Lakemaster chip. You can run the latest Lakemaster chip on the LCX-16, but not the latest Navionics chip. Easy choice.

On the sonar, that is not normal. My first guess would be a transducer issue, perhaps the way it’s mounted, but with this being an older unit it could be anything.

It is mounted on the transom. I’m going to try tilting it some so that when in plane it is facing more strait down. Other than that do you have any other idea’s to try other than a new transducer. It is mounted on Fiberglass, I know on some boats they say to mount them on a plate as to cut down on the interferance from hull vibration but I did not think this would be a issue with fiberglass.

The LCX16ci was produced in 2001-2002.
An excellent unit, even by todays standards.

I’d give the nod to Lakemaster. Having the wing dams on the Mississippi River has been huge for me.
