Antlers for X-mas

Not sure if you all remember, but I was looking at getting a bunch of antlers I had laying around onto plaques. I was able to attempt it with the bigger sets and did a pretty crappy job and I never got around to working with the spikes.

Well, Nicole snuck them all out of the house and brought them to her father. He is a highly skilled carpenter who loves to tinker. She had him create a plaque for my antlers.

This is all from scratch. He even crafted the skull caps. I was really impressed with his skills and touched by Nicole’s thoughtfulness.

To find 3 matching sets of spike sheds is quite extraordinary. I think I would have mounted them as well. Way to go.

It’s funny you say that. I’ve got a lot of small spikes, forks, and basket 6 racks laying around from Mule Deer and Whitetail. Where I hunt out in Montana, there are antlers all over the place.

Looks great! I’m guessing that it means a lot more to you knowing that your father-in-law did them and that your wife was the one who initiated it!

Very true. The antlers are whatever. Just some deer taken over the years. It’s the thought and effort that mean so much more.
