Most likely he will be fishing on the Croix near Stillwater. Mostly chasing bass and pike as a target fish.

I’ll be chasing as many species as possible for this month as a contest for the month of June. I’ll hit 12-15 on the croix and a total of 25-30.

I hit the stillwater area today for about 4 hours, would have been longer but had to detour to Walmart to get a new crank battery…should have stopped on the way, but the old one was fine a week ago…found out after I had dropped the boat in and parked.

So after re-loading the boat, getting to Walmart, buying the new battery, then dealing with the downtown Stillwater traffic jam and re-launching, we’d lost a couple hours of fishing time. The good news is it didn’t matter!

We started getting short walleyes and a couple cigar saugers right away, drifting with 1/8 jig and another line with a split shot rig in 16 to 18 feet. We only tried leeches, never brought out the crawlers or minnows since the fish seemed to enjoy the leeches. We’d make a long drift then troll back up stream with jointed shad raps, and got 1 fish per pass the first 3 tries and about half the time thereafter. About 3:30 the bigger fish started showing up and I quickly got 4 for the box, and released a 22.5″ fatty.

It was all good clean fun until the electric started on my Honda started acting up. Got it going a few times just by flipping back and forth into neutral, and I should have skpped the last trolling pass and headed in, but the “one last bite” was too tempting, and then I couldn’t get her cranked over and had to troll in. Took over an hour, put luckily I was upstream from the landing or I’d still be going!

Anyone have a suggestion for a NE metro shop to bring the boat to get the starter fixed?

Fished Prescott area on Saturday (3 PM to 8 PM). Saugers were hitting jigs tipped with gulp (emerald shinner or chartreuse minnow) or a fathead. Decent sizes with 19.5 being the biggest.

Caught a few trolling also but the jig bite was better.

As for Gulp vs. live minnows – live beat out Gulp but not by much. Bigger fish seemed to hit the Gulp more often.

back from the north caught northerns, white bass, sheephead , and red horse. Northerns and bass were hitten raps and other fish caught on the bottom.

Kooty posted this http://www.tachyoninc.com/ in Ricco’s Xmas wish list post.

Got me thinking.. Do you think these are the next BIG thing? Or it already is? Like deer cams,, first it was how cool the pics were, then the videos.. Now I catch myself videoing deer from my stand on my phone,,and love watching them. I was surprised to see how inexpensive the mid-range camera is priced at. Now, I want one.

I should have mine this week. If time allows, I was hoping to do a full product review. However, I’m not gonna get back into the field until Turkey season the way it’s looking. I do plan to use it ice fishing, so hopefully I’ll have some video up very soon.

My first test with the new helmet cam. This was in the kitchen under pretty good lighting conditions. I’ll take some more video over the next couple day during the daylight hours.

    Some initial thoughts.

    1. It’s very easy to use. Minimal configurations. Basically a toggle switch from video to still pic mode.
    2. The micro SD card is a bit of a pain to get to as the battery compartment is right next to it and my sausage fingers fumble a bit. Will simply take some getting use to.
    3. Very few mounting bracket options. Gonna take some “farmering” to come up with the mount for the bow, car, wheeler handle bar, ice house etc… However, this should provide many hours of garage logic sessions over the remainder of the winter.
    4. Can’t wait to try submerging this thing in a gin clear lake like Mille Lacs.

I’d hold off til I run it for a bit. Maybe I can loan it to you for a week or two if you wanted to test it out if you live close.
