Mike and I finished Sunday with a 15th place check!! talk about a difficult time catching slots..we managed only 4 slots each day. We had very little wind on Sunday allowing the surface water temp. to reach 63 degs in the afternoon! The eastside also experienced its first bug hatch of the season!!

On Saturday 26 boats came to the scales with zero fish….Sunday that number went up to 35 boats! That right there tells the true story! Some very good fisherman not able to keep a fish. A total of 381 walleyes came into the scales for both days. Both days we had a full field of 100 teams!!!

Congrats to the guys that finished on top of the list!!! great job catching bigger slots with a very difficult bite.

I decided to go out deer hunting tonight during the storm and even though i didn’t see a deer, I did however shoot my first yote It turned out to be a BIG female I shot her at 25 yards walking and dropped her I waited about 15 minutes for her to finally stop moving and i got down to go take a look. Turned out to be a good night for me

Now what do i do? I want to skin her but how do i do that, should i gut her first, wait till she thaws out, clean her up before i skin her, etc

You don’t need to gut it. Unless you plan on eating it

Congrats on the yote! I wouldnt gut it either, no need to. If your not gonna skin it right away, freeze it whole. Thaw than skin.

Ya don’t need to gut it. Take it to your local fur buyer and ask if they will skin and stretch and dry it for ya. I send mine to Moyle mink and tannery. They tan them , deodorize them, de flea them. They turn out awesome. I have 6 I’ve shot with my bow hanging in my trophy room.

don’t gut her. let an expert skin her, you’ll be glad you did. It’s not a pleasant job.

my brother skinned her and did a fantastic job I used hydrogenperoxide to take the blood out. I was using warm water w/ a towel to get it out until my mom suggested using that. She is a nurse and uses it all the time on patients it took about 10 minutes to get rid of all the blood off the pelt Im going to bring her to a taxidermist to finish it off and hopefully get a nice rug or scarf made like in Ace Ventura
By the way, she weighed 27 pounds. Is that an average weight?

It’s always good to get a female coyote out of the herd. 27 lbs is a little above average in my opinion. I shot a 35 lb female 3 yrs ago, which was my biggest. Nice job!

Congrats, on your first!! Glad your brother knew how to skin it. Was a bit shocked by the gutting thing!! It is far easier to skin them when they are still warm. Gets real tough after they have been frozen. Even if you thaw them out. Pulling the tail is about the worst!!

As for tanning it. USA FOX& FUR is about the cheapest tanning you will find.
