Gore-Tex Hunting Boots

I’ve got a pair of Pronghorns. When I wear them in wet conditions my feet get wet, pretty wet. I am not sure if it is water getting through the boots, or my feet sweating? When I am wearing them in dry conditions I have no problems with sweating feet, even when wearing cotton socks, my feet stay dry.

Could the outside of the boots being wet affect the breatablity of the boots preventing moisture from getting out of my boots? Trapping moisture in?

Has anyone else got the same problems.

I have the same issue with a pair of Rocky’s that are full leather, with a gore-tex liner.

I have the same problem. I think it’s coming through the seams. I have heard Danner will replace them no matter how old but I have not contacted them.

I sent back a pair that were 18 months old 3 weeks ago, with no receipt and they sent me a new pair. I contacted them, explained my issues and they said send them in and we will evaulate them. 3 days later I had a phone message that they were sending me a new pair.

They sent the new style, which most of the reviews I have seen are not as good as the old style.

I have not worn them in the field, but they are not as comfortable out of the box as the old ones were.

I was looking at some Pronghorns at a couple places this year. Don’t they make the all leather Pronghorn anymore? I love my all leather ones and they still keep me bone dry. Not so impressed with the new camo sided ones!

Gore tex has a limited life….all of my goretex boots have leaked after a full season of hard hiking. I have an old pair of pronghorns and they are still a great boot but they are definitely less than waterproof.

I water proof my pronghorns At least once a year in early Oct. Have been doing this for about 5 years now boots are 7 years old. Not one problem yet.
