“there here”! My buddy picked up over twenty pounds yesterday. Nothing in the hills yet, just the river bottom.

Lots of moisture in the ground should make for a great season, I will be hitting it next Tuesday or Wednesday!

I took a walk after work and came up with a “bakers dozen” greys. They were under an elm with a good southern exposure. I’m about 40 miles north of LaCrosse.

Jim if the grey’s are out in our area that would put the yellows out this next week, I am guessing with the cold spring that the season will be a little longer and slower to come up, good info Thank You ….

Literally stumbled upon a whole patch that filled a grocery sack last night while shore fishing (in SE MN)…..never have looked or found any before, so I thought it was pretty cool!!!

I’ve never had them before…..but I’m not much of a mushroom fan…..where do you sell them? and how much do you think I could get for a full grocery bag

try some local restuarant, go in the back-way into the kitchen and ask the chef if he’d like to buy any, can’t be a McDonalds or something of that sort, but your higher end places. $25 now, dehydrate them and you can get $20 per pack.

they are still coming down here. it is one of the best years ever. undoubtedly due to all the rain.
found these yesterday. fresh and old yellows and some nice fresh greys on a north, shaded slope.

15 bucks a pound where I sell. And that’s expensive for up here. A grocery bag full is probably around 6 lbs if you ask me. Maybe a little more. So far this year i’ve been finding a lot of little guys. I just sold 3.1` lbs yesterday.

found a small mixture of yellows and grays yesterday about 30 miles north of Madison. The area had been picked ove r and found more stems than anything…Nonetheless, I will be enjoying them with some bacon wrapped venison tenderloin this evening. Still early yet!!!

We looked for over 3 hours today. We’re either searching the wrong areas(may still be too cold) or we’re picking behind someone. For 3 hrs, we found 9. Not 9lbs either. I’m hoping it’s the weather.

There’s 2 or 3 places that buy in our area(La Crosse). Wiebke Fur is one and there’s another place in La Crescent that buys them.

I went out last evening and found only two mushrooms. Went out to the same area today and found a bag full.
The sun forecast for tomorrow should get them popping.

Sothern exposed hillsides with half dead elm or elm with its bark laying all over the floor of the forest will be a good start. Morels like lots of moisture and warmth, three or four 70 degree days and we would be golden. Look very closely around elms, above and below the tree- all around. I have stepped on them before finding them. Sometimes it pays to get on your knees and slowly scan the whole area around at grounf level. Its fun!
