Does anyone here own one? Looking at buying one or possibly making one and would like some ideas.

Im wanting to keep my core hunting gear with me for spur of the moment hunts.

    Google

I just googled “truck vault” and found plans to build, cheaper alternatives and good chatter from other chat boards. Those things are awesome!

    Good Luck!

I was thinking of going that route but that would mean i would have to buy a topper. so i would be 2000 dollars into it to start. So thats why i was thinking of looking at buying a truck vault but what the just quoted me for the one i wanted i think it will prob be cheaper to buy the topper and build one. Just need to find some plans and figure out what to use for rollers and locks

    Hook,

You don’t really need rollers or locks. We have built a couple and used a thin acrylic plastic for slides on the bottom of the drawers. As far as locks, as long as your tailgate locks and you have a topper that locks, I think it would be almost impossible to get into it. You just have to make sure you make it long as possible so it fits tight, front to back. That way, it would have to be lifted straight up to pull it out. We used 5/8″ or 3/4″ plywood for the top and bottom so even empty the thing weighs a bit. I used 1/4″ plywood for my drawer bottoms and my brother used 1/4″ masonite peg board. I think I have about $70 into mine. (shortbox F150) There are a lot of different things you can do. It comes down to what you want. If you have any ?’s, PM me.

The ones I’ve seen are basically a subfloor like unit. So yes, you can throw stuff in on top of them.

They have a steel one that can hold 2200 lbs and is water proof but they quoted me 4800 buck for it a long box…
