My bait/beer/pop fridge in the garage is not working well. It’s the standard fridge with freezer on top. It started about 10 days ago during our hot spell. The freezer is still keeping everything rock solid, but the pop from the fridge is barely cool. Certainly not close to where I think is drinkable.

The fridge is about 9 years old, been a champ til now. I pulled the back cover off, blew out any dust and stuff around the condensor unit. I hate to put $180.00 into a service call to find out I need to replace it.

    Suggestions?

X2 – I’m in the same boat, except mine is a mid-70’s model Frigidaire. Exact same problem.

In my situation at least, I think the obvious solution is to sell it to a buddy for way too much to make a smoker out of it.

The good news is that Fall is coming, and the lower garage temp will help keep everything colder. Right now, with the temp guage in it says 47 degrees if it’s been relatively cool outside.

craigslist. We just bought one for the garage off there. $40 and it’s a dandy.

Heck ya, I’ll try that. We are heading to SD for the long weekend. I’ll clean it all out and leave it unplugged for 4 days. That should defrost anything that has a blockage.

On those types the refrigerator gets its cold air from the freezer. If your freezer continues to work but the fridge is not then I would think that you have a blockage on the air pathway from the Freezer to the fridge (probably ice build up…). Unplug it and leave it outside to thaw for a couple of days before you buy another one or spend $ on a service call. Just an idea…RR

Nice! I’ll do the same. There’s plenty of ice build-up in there. Hope that’s all it is!
