That’s right,,,went hog hunting Saturday afternoon with a buddy on private land.

On the way into the stand we got winded by the hogs (About 10) and they ran off.

Got up in the stand about 6:45,,feeder didn’t go off at 7:00,,but I waited on them to return.

Somewhere around 7:30 about 7-10 hogs came in very quietly from my right side headed to where the feeder was. I was thinking they would come in on my left side.

I checked out a few through the scope looking for the ones without the,,,(well you know what I was looking for on the back side) any way, the one that was about 20 yards from me didn’t have any,,,so I drove his head in the ground with a shot just below the ear, He didn’t move!

Cocked the gun real fast and looked up to see one coming from my left to my right in a hurry,,(O-no you dont),,,,,BAM! He ran off away from me,,,,cocked the gun again,,,,,looked around,,,another one behind a small bush,,,BAM,,,he went about 20 feet and dropped!

HOT DAM! I was jacked up!

Took a long breath and decided to call David on the phone and let him know what happened. After a short conversation, I got ready to come down from the stand,,,and Ill be dam, there was another one right under the stand,,(If I would have had a shell in my Glock I could have blasted him too!

Man what a great hunt! David said they were about 80-90lbs each

    Thanks Davin G. for everything!

Good shooting again Rick. Do you or your friend know of many guys that hunt them with a bow. Does the rest of the group spook after the first one is shot, can you knock in another arrow and get a second shot on another one, maybe a third because a bows quiet. Do the big sows taste good, I’ll take your word for it on the boars.

As a matter of fact, I was supposed to go with another buddy to a different club today, but had enough meat to hold me for a while.
He shoots a bow all the time, and yes, If a lot of hogs come into the feeder and your good, you can kill more than one. Some of the time they squeal like hell and it scares the others away.
The only thing bad about a bow is that you have a lot of tracking to do in the dark when you hunt late in the afternoon like he does.
Some of the guys around here tell me that the big sows are good,,,but it depends on there diet.
The guy I hunted with yesterday told me that the hogs along the salt water river will eat the periwinkle snails that are in the grass along the river banks and the meat smells like crap! They are NO good!

Awesome job Rick. I’m jealous. A pig hunt is something I’ve been meaning to do someday.

As you can tell,,,,Its a blast if you get a good area that has plenty of food from a feeder.
