There are a couple routes you can go here. When you say packable, do you mean a set that will compress down to “pop can” size for back country hunts? I did a lot of research on rain gear before I went on my Caribou hunt a couple years ago. Weight was an issue so I was looking for something that compressed down and was very lightweight but still worked. After talking to alot of elk hunters, I ordered a set of Cabelas Space Rain. I bought the jacket and bibs and the stuff compressed down to just a bit bigger than a pop can. The only draw back that I found was that is just was not very durable. Waterproof- yes but any type of walking thru brush would tear the legs, grass type cover ok but twigs and branches not so good. That being said, I wouldnt hesitate using this suit on a backpack back country elk hunt but the terrain I would be walking in up in the tundra of Quebec, I deceided not to take it on my caribou hunt. I still keep it in my pack for treestand hunting. I ended up going with Cabelas MT050. Didnt pack down like the Space Rain and was a bit heavier but it was very quiet and very durable, packs inside an existing pocket and best of all, was very dry. Very happy with my decsion. I have heard good things about Gamehide, Helly Hansen and Sitka. Good luck with your choice.
