Our office got a call the other day of some road kill geese. When I got there I found someone had run over 6. This was on a road where it was not an accidental hit. Someone was just to lazy to stop. I went to pick one up and saw it had a band. I eventually found out that they all had bands. I removed them all and submitted the info online. I should have breasted them all out.

Thats a shame. Wasted birds. Wasted effort and resources on those bands. 6 together this time of year you can pretty much guarantee it was a family group that was recently banded. So much for that meat/data. Some people and their actions never cease to amaze/anger/bewilder me.

Glad some one with respect and appreciation for the birds ended up with the bands.

I actually saw a couple of road kill geese on highway 65 in MN on my way to mille lacs on fri afternoon. some accidents do happen but no matter what it is a shame and sad everytime. I hope if they were just too lazy to slow down their karma bites them in the for a real long time.

I had to lock the brakes on my F-350 once already this season to avoid an entire flock of them crossing an on ramp near Owatonna. If there was someone behind me, I probably would have had no other option than to grease them. Fortunately I got stopped. Most of them were too young to fly yet.

I got the certificates back on all the birds today. They were all banded 8 days prior to being killed. Almost all were to young to fly when banded.

I’ve stopped and carried across many a turtle in my day. I hate seeing cool critters dead on the road. Most are accidents but you know some are the result of some truly sadistic people. The ones that do bad things when they think nobody is looking.
