I’m sure most of you guys are like me and simply can’t afford to hunt everywhere you want each year. For me, I try to save away a few bucks here and there for a “big” trip in a year or two. Sometimes I end up stealing from the pot for unexpected trips, like Alaska for example. In 07 I drew a moose tag unexpectedly.

What’s on your “must do” list for the next 3-5 years. I’m hoping to draw a bear tag in MN next year given my preference point. That will be a life lister for me.

I’m also saving for a Montana archery elk tag. I’ve got a hook up that would simply be foolish to pass up. That should be about 3 years down the road if they don’t change the preference point/tag availability.

I’m also hoping after I get my truck paid off, I can afford to lease some deer hunting land in Mn or Wi.

So, what’s on your “must do” list for the next few years??

Winning the lottery so I can do whatever I want whenever I want! And of course we all know that isn’t going to happen for two reasons – 1. I’m not that lucky & 2. You have to play to win! But after last nights trip through Buffalo County, I think I might save up for a hunt at BBO some time. Would love a chance at one of the many bruisers Butch has running around down there!

I am waiting/saving to get drawn again for MT Elk archery…next year should be drawn….also, I need to do another Bear Hunt in Manitoba…… come to think of it, Moose in Manitoba should be done also..but at over $5K, it might take awhile to save for that one (insert lottery winnings) and as Mike says, a BBO archery hunt would be one thing I want to do. My favorite by far, is being in the cabin in the mountains of Montana…. it’s a tough hunt, but you can’t beat a few cold ones at the end of the day and swap stories out on the front porch

Africa? My sister in-law just got back from Namibia a couple weeks ago and said it is a life changing trip. I haven’t really gotten to talk to her much about it yet, but she is making my brother go back with her in 2012 and she wants me to go along. She harvested a Kudu, Gemsbok, and a Blue Wildebeast.

I’m planning on Africa in the Spring of 2013.

Looking at a few outfitters in Namibia, and i’m hoping to take at least 5 species when I go. Thinking about going after a Kudu, Zebra, Gemsbok, Impala & Warthog.

I’m not really one that is good at saving for things. With me, it’s more like trying to figure out how to pay for the trips I have already committed to. Outside of my yearly trips, there are a few that I am working on for the near future. Probably going back to Colorado antelope next year. Also, working on a javalina hunt for this coming winter in TX or AZ. A couple I plan on doing in the next couple years are going back up caribou hunting and Africa. Had too much fun on the last bou hunt. Never thought I would want to hunt Africa but after talking to several good friends and people I deal with at work that have gone, as mentioned on a post above, a life changing experience. Than there are the usual suspects, brown bear/grizzley, moose and elk but unfortunatly, due to vacation restrictions during Sept, those hunts are going to have to wait until I win the lottery . So much to do, so little time (and money)!

I plan on heading to a different area each year for shed hunting. This past spring was Central Illinois. Next spring I’d like to head west for some elk and mulie sheds, then the following year try for some moose sheds. If anyone has any in’s with anyone on the elk or moose part, please let me know.

I happen to be getting hitched next weekend and I tried to talk the Mrs. into a big Shed Hunting Trip and calling that our ‘Honeymoon’. Let’s just say that it didn’t go over well. I always though the wedding was for her and the honeymoon was for me?!?

Either archery mulies or elk every year. I guess I don’t have much desire to hunt anything else out of state. If I have fun on my mulie hunt this fall I’ll probably stick to mulies till I tag a bomber, otherwise it will be elk in any state I can draw a tag.

I honestly don’t know. We’ve got a couple different trips on the table. Just need to prioritize. A Billy Goat hunt in Northern B.C. is on the list. Another Moose hunt in B.C. Elk in B.C. Seeing a trend here?

A Caribou hunt up near Hudson Bay.

A lot of deep sea fishing trips as well.

father and son northern sask. Whitetail Hunt. This will be my 4th trip and my son’s 3rd trip. The days are long and cold!! We sit from dark till dark. But just knowing that at any time there is the possibility of shooting a 170-200″ buck makes it worth while

Mine is simple. I want to hunt Nebraska Archery turkeys, then South Dakota Hills turkeys then hit MN gun before flipping over to Wisconsin for the final bird.

Colorado Mule deer hunt, money is not the problem its getting the tag in the area I want, looking at 4 more years of aplications!! Next year it will be a muzzleloader hunt in north centeral Alberta,HALF the price of any hunts I found in the States! Last time there I had over 700 inches of bone with in 150 yards but had a bow Saved this year for my first black bear hunt, my buddies have already spent more in bait than the cost of this trip, the first hunt with my new T.C Muzzleloader!

Hopefully, Arizona Elk 2011. Buddy has the preference points and invited me along. Archery in the Flagstaff area. If it happens, might be the best hunt ever.

Osceola turkey hunt for myself. The trick is finding the right opportunity. It would be the 4th and final leg of my grand slam, and I want to hunt them the way I’ve done the other 3; do-it-yourself. I have no problem with guided or outfitted hunts at all, but for the Osceola, feeder-hunts seem to be the norm. Whether you’re informed of it or not, it sounds like there’s a feeder on the property somewhere, usually behind where the guide sets you to intercept the turkeys.

Other than that, I’d love to do a DIY archery hunt out-west, but instead of relying on a guide’s experience, rely on a buddy’s.

Like someone already posted, I’m also saving up for many of the trips I’m taking this year. ND Bow, SD Bow, SD Rifle (hope to get drawn), SD Pheasant, WI Bow, MN Bow & Rifle, along with as many trips to the Honey Hole for Birds that Rufus can handle.

To many States, not enough time.

Like mentioned I would love to save up for a trip down to Bluff Bucks with Butch and his crew in Buffalo County.

This is one hunt I won’t miss. This fall will be my 6th year with Butch and Mark. Great people, great times and great deer.
