Going elk hunting this year with the bow and wondering what type of heads everyone recommends fixed/mechanical?

A lot of western states don’t allow the use of mechanical on elk. If that is the case, find the fixed that flies best with your setup.

Congrats on the hunt, I’m very jealous. Elk hunting with a bow is the ultimate for me!!

Good ol’ Muzzy’s worked for me – but I’d encourage you to take a look at the SlickTricks. They seem to fly a little better.

I’d be very reluctant to use mechanicals on elk, even it the state allows them. My .02…

    I totally agree with Jay.

Confident and legal is the best way to go if you ask me.

I normally shoot rage 2 blade but thinking of the MX3 Muzzy’s would be my second choice for any game haven’t seen much hunting shows for elk to see what they use for heads. thanks for the input.

Have to agree with the others, what ever works with your bow. I shot Muzzy’s when I lived there and still shoot them for whitetail here. 125 grain was what I shot.

I’d say the advice already given is spot on. I’ve only hunted elk once, my buddy killed his bull with a shuttle T-lock, and I killed mine with a montec. The biggest thing is going to be shot placement, so one that fly’s well and is tough should work just fine.

I use slick trick mag 100’s, my buddy uses Shuttle T’s. Punch them right and it doesn’t matter, punch them wrong, and it doesn’t matter. Get one that flys well, is sharp, and is legal, and you are set.
