My biggest morel EVER!

I’ve been picking and selling mushrooms for 23 years and this is the biggest morel I’ve ever found. It was pretty ripe and lost a nice chunk before it hit the scale at Hill’s Morels in LaCrescent, but it still hit 0.71 lbs!!! I thought I was a shoe-in for the top prize this year, but there have been 3 bigger mushrooms brought in; the top weighing 1.13 lbs.

Otherwise, my brother and I have now sold 116 lbs to Hill’s this year, well behind last year’s 200+. But we’ve sold everything between $14 and $15.50 per pound, so I’m not complaining. I love this time of year.
