You guys ever muff a chance at a giant and feel so sick afterwards that you can’t even watch or look at anything pertaining to hunting? I can’t shake it man, over and over in my mind. I’ll tell the story soon, still hurts!

the haunting comes back on those slow days when you run out of things to think about and then memory sets in on a hunt I had back 2001 didn’t miss but had a great buck 20rds or less and couldn’t get a shot twice in one day same tree on the last day of the first season

Time heals all wounds,, but being a guy that’s been through this, it will hang with you forever. But it does get easier.

Here’s the grieving process that I went through the first 10 seconds.

1.OMG! WHat just happened, Maybe he’ll come back!
2.It’s okay, it wasn’t my fault.
3.Wait, it was my fault, what just happened?
4.OH NO,I’ll never have another chance at that deer again!
5.Would anyone miss me if I did a swan dive off my stand?

You’re probably thinking that the only way to heal is to harvest THAT same deer sometime in the future. It’s not true, I made it out okay but still think about it. All you can do is try to learn from whatever happend, your fault or not, and make the best of the time you get out there next year.

The lows only make the highs that much better.

Hang in there, it will get better

It’s one thing to see a GIANT and another to get a shot at one. Time will heal all wounds… give it some time and you will get your chance.
