What a way to spend the off season…getting my daughter her first bow. Tori is 10 years old and she is pumped about archery hunting. I took her last Tuesday to our local archery shop to have her try it out. Well needless to say she was bugging mom and myself about when she could get her bow. Well the time came last Friday and she has been shooting everyday since then in our basement. The bow is the Bear Apprentice and it’s a great bow for youth hunters. After just a few shots we had her dialed right in at 10 yards. I’m very lucky to have both my kids involved in the outdoors. I’m looking forward to this turkey season to take Adam on his first hunt and to bring a friend of his from school and introducing him to the outdoors as well. Tori will go with me and I’m sure we’ll spend many quality hours in the blind together as well.

(Sorry for the quality of pics, I had to use my cell phone!)

I would but I think WI you have to shoot at least 40 lbs. She is only pulling 19 right now!

That is outstanding Mike! Great job! I like to say that it’s never too early to introduce a child to the wonderful sport of hunting.

Mike-in Wi, we only have to get to 30#. She should be able to hit that by fall if she is at 19# already. She will probably really enjoy the DART video screen at Mouldy’s also.

Do you guys belong to the Chippewa Bowhunters? I don’t remember seeing your name around. We have the banquet this Saturday night, lots of great food and great prizes. There will be good BS’ing, raffles, door prizes, a comedian/magician, and lots of other stuff. There is also a kids table, with some great Youth prizes. Tickets are still available, if you have any interest.

Thanks guys. No Les I’m not part of the Chippewa Bowhunters. I guess I never really looked into it. With the website here and also being involved in Covert Blinds I really haven’t thought about it.

And she is already bugging me about the video target at Mouldy’s! I told her she needs to get at least to 15 yards before we head in there! But I can’t wait to see how she does!

Awesome Mike I will be right behind you with my son. How much adjustment is there with that bow? Draw length and weight?

Seth, the peak draw weight is from 20# to 50#. The draw length is 15″ to 27″ with a 70% let off. She can handle that bow very easily right now and she should have it for quite some time!

That’s one of the reasons I bought this one…technically she wouldn’t need another bow as long as she wanted to bow hunt. I guess when she gets older she can make that decision on her own.
