    Hi,
This spring, we’re having electric installed on our hunting property finally. My question is, we’re having the transformer placed on the corner of our property to save some money. The problem is, our new cabin will be about 150 yards away from the transformer. Can we bury a line from the transformer to our cabin ourselves?

The electric company charges to run the line by the foot, so placing the transformer on the very corner of our property adajacent to the county road will save a ton of money. Any suggestions?

Brian, when we did ours, in Aitkin county, we could dig the ditch, I want to say at least 2 feet deep (alot of Mille Lacs rock) and then they lay the line in, FYI run 200 amp wire, even if you think don’t need it and then when you bury it, you bury up to 1 foot below grade, then lay CAUTION tape in the ditch, have inspected, then bury the last foot over. This was Aitkin Cty anyways.
