Take the trail down to the river from Minnehaha park. (It follows the creek to the river) There you can fish from shore all the way up to the locks. On the St Paul side, enter at Hidden Falls Regional park. You can fish from shore quite a ways up stream from there. This time of year, I’d hit the M’haha side first.

Wow James! I grew up fishing that lake! I’ve fished that lake since I was 10 years old! My buddy’s parents live on the lake and it is one hell of a bass lake. I got one bass over 7lbs. on that lake and is on my wall. Wow…how did you know about that lake….let me guess Steve? It’s a good lake but man its not nearly as good as it once was. I’ve seen guys keep stringers of 5lb. + fish on that lake and it made me sick. Anyways, cool video, but I still can’t believe you made a video out there.

If you don’t mind paying for a state park sticker, Fort Snelling area can be pretty good this time of year. There is a lot of fishing opportunities inside the park. You can cross the bridge and fish your way down Pike Island. There is a channel from the Miss to the Minnesota on the west end of Pike Island that is good for walleye’s among other fish. Good Luck!

    Ditto what they said.

That channel holds a TON of fish, esp early in the year. The area above the channel has some slack water that can be real good during high water. The channel itself cuts a 4′ drop off into the Miss itself. It is a great spot for all species and not nearly the snags that you will run into around the Minnehaha.

Looking for a digital camera, any recommendations. I have not had very good luck with them. I have gone from expensive to cheap and they all seem to be throwaways.

id go canon all the way.

ive only owned point and shoot styles. ive owned 3 of them (old school film, advantix and now digital) and currently have the elph powershot 780. its 12MP, 4x optical/3x digital zoom, and can take HD video up to 720p. and best of all, its about the same size as my cell phone so it fits in my blind bag or cargo pocket easily.

I’m with Big Hunter. I ‘ve had really good luck with my Cannon Powershot SD870IS.

I abuse the heck out of it and it is still working. Often you can buy extended no fault warranty’s with them also (Best Buy). Perhaps an avenue you need to look into?

I agree – Cannon are very good cameras. However, I went through this process about a year ago and I was looking for a camera that I could use in the field (for hunting and fishing) under any conditions. I wanted something very durable because I know it would get wet and most likely would take some abuse. I ended up purchasing the Olympus Stylus 790 SW and I’m very happy with it. They also just came out with a 8000 series as well. These cameras are virtually indestructible.

    It’s shockproof – up to 5 feet (I dropped mine 20 feet out of a deerstand ).

They are waterproof down to 10 feet (I like to take a lot of underwater photos of fish)

They are cold weather proof – down to 14 degrees

And they are small enough to put in your pocket – 3.7″W x 2.4″H x 0.84″ and weighs 4.8 oz.

I would say that the Kodak camera for the Kodak moment is what you should go with.

We bought the camera a couple years ago and the battery life is really good. I don’t charge it much and it holds ………………………………………………………………and holds.

Its take alright pictures.(good enough for me) I am pretty brutal with it. Rain snow sleet the thing doesn’t miss a beat.

A member asked me if I was serious and actually take underwater pictures with my Olympus Stylus. Here’s the proof.

What all are you looking for in a camera??? point and shoot??? Digital SLR????
I have been in photography for around 8 years as a race track photographer. I own a Canon EOS-1 (their big dog film camera) collecting dust. Canon EOS 20D SLR digital.. Canon EOS 40D SLR digital with three Canon lenses plus a Speedlite 580EXII flash. Canon equipment has always been top with me, but other photographers at the track go with Nikon. Kinda like the Ford Chevy feud!

I have had many people ask for advice on cameras including just helping out my sister last week!

Here is a helpful website that I have sent to friends on camera reviews on ALL cameras whether “point and shoot” camera, SLR camera, zoom cameras etc….. Hope it helps and if you need more help just email me for some help.

I own the Olympus Stylus 790SW also. It is on its 8th month of use in Iraq. No issues at all. That is alot to be said with all the dust.
