Just found out we can hunt some new land next year. 300 acre farm. Can’t wait to do some scouting. Any ideas on what to look for would be appreciated. I don’t bow hunt, so would be for gun only. Will be looking while snow is on the ground for sure.–John

Congrats John on the new piece….that is always exciting! It’s a good idea to head out in the snow to know where there traveling and to find out where they bed. Good luck next year!

And rubs, rubs, rubs, also when you are shed hunting right when the snow is gone, you can see the scrapes from this season.

    Good luck

Congrats! Get some maps (satellite & topo ) before scouting and look for pinch points, funnels, benches, fingers, creek beds, food sources, potential bedding areas, possible travel routes, water sources and perhaps hunting pressure from the surrounding neighbors. Google maps are excellent and you can mark everything listed above right online and save it. I would also get out there ASAP and put out some cameras to take inventory of what bucks made it through this year. Good luck and keep us up to date!
