My brother-in-law (Troy) took this picture when he was driving through the Bad Lands in SD.
Here’s his story:
Lara and I were driving to Rapid City on the 21st of November and we drove through the Badlands for a little scenery along the way. We just took the loop off of 94 through the Badlands and back out at Wall, SD. About half way through we come around a corner and there is this big mule deer right at the side of the road. I slowed down as fast as I could and crept up slowly, and he just stood there. I took my first picture with my phone to insure that I got a shot. The funny thing is, my real nice camera was in the trunk, so all I had was my point and shoot Sony Cybershot. I was able to get that out, (again engine running, I am in the driver’s seat and he is like 10 feet off of the shoulder) I reached across the passenger seat he turned and I clicked, and that is what came out. I just love the picture. Everyone thinks it is fake because of the rich lighting and definition of the photo. I sent it to SD tourism, and they have already posted it on their blog, and may use it in some of their literature in the future. Here is a link to the blog.
