If you do your homework, there are plenty of places to go.

Lots of public land out there. I don’t know about the Laramie area, but get online and check out the DNR’s public land maps. It’s a bit desolate in many areas, but many. Hunting galore. I’m also sure if you are going to school out there some manual labor traded for hunting/fishing is very possible. Good luck!

Don’t rule out Montana. Lots of good schools there too.

X2 I don’t know about the Laramie area but Wyoming has TONS of public and BLM land that you can hunt and it holds some good animals

Another idea would be to contact the local outfitters. They’re always looking for good help and you could work your way through school and hunt at the same time.

But, I hope you’re picking a school based on what you want to do. There’s hunting/fishing opportunities where ever you go. Some easier than others. Possible the lure of having easy access to great hunting might really hurt your college studies.
My recommendation would be to hit it hard for four years and then do something fun for 2-5 years before settling down and getting serious work.

I wish I had done it that way. I started work right out of college and I haven’t been able to quit yet. Wish I would have toured Europe on the cheap or spent some time out west as your suggesting. Just some ideas!

    Good luck!
