Goose Problem turning into a human problem

In the neighborhood(golf course) I live in, there is a problem with geese tearing up the place. I do feel we have a legit complaint. The owner of the course claims to have a permit to shoot said geese. He has asked members(neighbors) of our little community to shoot them.

I’ve called the DNR and sheriff’s departments, waiting for call backs.

While I love shooting geese, here are my concerns. 1. public safety. We have many open lots, but we also have a lot of houses on this ground. 2. Legality of shooting in the city limits. 3. What good does it do when we have 1000’s of geese living in this area right now.

I think it’s very, very ridiculous that the owner has asked neighbors to arm themselves and start shooting geese. As a golfer who despises the darn things, I have built in hatred for them. I still don’t feel it’s safe to be wielding a 12 gauge on the golf course. And no offense to my neighbors, but I don’t trust other people with firearms until they have proven to me they are able to think while armed. I guess I’m not willing to allow them to attempt to build that trust near my family and house.

I would be happy to set up about 3 dozen dekes, grab a few buddies and shoot a few birds for him!

Instead of him telling everybody to shoot birds off their yards he should let a few guys head in there and set up.

I would be happy to do it…

I think they would be okay shooting INSIDE the course in designated areas, when there’s no play going on of course.

Kooty, Click on the link below to find yourself a safe solution as well as make some extra money on the side.

Some courses in the cities own their own trained dogs.

Kooty I don’t think your in the city limits. Stop at city hall and see if the map has changed.

If not lets get Bob and his big foots and go on the back nine, plenty of open space back there that would be safe.

I checked. We are in the no discharge zone. And, the stinkin’ geese primarily hang in my “front” yard. Never see them on the back 9. Got a couple hundred on the pond by my house right now. I think a blow dart gun would be a fun challenge or a sling shot.

I also got a call back from the sheriff. The city may issue a permit to fire in the no discharge zone, however you can not be within 500 feet of any building. Well, that eliminates the whole area where the geese primarily reside.

I think a bow and some judo points would be the most fun.

Take the bow out there. Works just fine you’d think. Turkey are no problem.
