Yeah I know, it’s hunting season, the fish are bitting and the beer is cold. But…..I am in the market for a surround sound system for the basement, yep, we’re just about in the 21st century. So, I’ve been online at both Best-Buy and Walmart. So…..neither store is going to give any kind of customer service. But, am I getting the same thing at Walmart or should I make Best Buy match the price. Anyone, Bueller…Please respond and go back to drinking, hunting, fishing. Maybe all the above.

Best Buy actually has a customer service department so I would go with them.

    are you using HD/bluray?
and what type of budget are you looking to put into it?
do you want something to wake up the neighbors or just a quality sound for the basement?

Not interested in Blue Ray yet. Just want a decent sound for football games and movies. 300.00 or so

you might want to look at saving up just a tad more for a decent receiver and a set of 5.1s. pioneer makes a great starter receiver with hdmi switching for 199 and you can get a set of cheaper insignia speakers for another 160ish, or the entry level klipsch for 250. which would put you at 350 or 500ish..

but in all honesty, for a surround system a quality receiver is where you should concentrate the bulk of your cash..

I would try to get Best Buy to match or just save the $300 bucks and buy the big brother and baby some new fishing/hunting gear that dad needs to test!

If you find what you want at Walmart, best buy, or ultimate, then go online and price shop.
I’ve bought a lot of good stuff at http://www.tigerdirect.com or http://www.newegg.com
They don’t have the store overhead costs so they can sell stuff cheaper. Both have very good customer service and their items ship fast.

X2 and both are very responsive to any request or question and I usually get a follow up email or call as well.
