Shooting bench plans???

I’m looking for a plan for a shooting bench. Something I can put together out of treated pine and just let it sit outside. We haven’t shot in a while, and sighting in the rifles this weekend reminded us to much fun it is! We’d like to make a more permanent bench as the tables we were using were not exactly optimal. We have a 50/100/200/300/400 yard range… Why we haven’t built a “real” bunch before now is anyone’s guess.

So… Anyone have or know where I can find plans for a nice heavy shooting table/bench? I could just “eyeball it” and make a plan myself, but I’d rather get it right without hastle/mistakes if possible. Looking for a rock solid (i.e. heavy) seat and shooting platform that would work as a permanent shooting platform.

    Thanks!

    Whitt:

The best (most solid) table I’ve ever shot from was a 4-poster, made from wooden fence-posts that were buried 4 feet into the ground. Not portable (at all), and once you put it there, it’s going to be there awhile, but it sure was nice to shoot from!

These plans are just about exactly what I had envisioned. I’ve seen similar designs at shooting ranges, so they must work well.

    Thanks!

If you guys come across any other plans, I’d love to take a look!

    Thanks!

Hey if ya get down here again I’ll take ya out to the fairmont trap club and show ya the great benches they have out there. I think we got the plans from a NRA website. There very solid and durable.

Hey I just went to our gun club website and found a picture of the shooting benches at the range. Go to fairmonttrapclub.org then click on the pictures link. It might give you a idea.

Should of looked at Budamans post .The benches at the trap club are the exact same. the only differance is we put a plastis top cover for water protection.
